A Natural Herbal Expectorant and Cough Formula Have you ever noticed how many cherry-flavored cough syrups and lozenges there are on the market? Even those that are artificially flavored and colored are based on an herb that has been used for centuries for coughs, colds, and soothing throats. Nature provided us with this marvelous herb, the bark of the wild cherry tree that works to help with coughs and congestion. When combined with other herbs, the effect is even more wonderful. The herbs in Wild Cherry for Wet Cough Ease work together to effectively cool and soothe raw respiratory tissues as they help to remove excess mucus and congestion – and without alcohol, an ingredient in many cough remedies. This formula is an expectorant that causes a deep coughing action to help clear congestion and phlegm, specifically for acute wet coughs and wet respiratory congestion. And what makes it even more wonderful is that this formula is good for your CONTAINS: White pine bark, wild cherry bark, spikenard, elecampane root, elderberry, licorice root and cinnamon bark, and a proprietary New Sun herbal catalytic flavoring, in a glycerine/purified water TincTract® base. NOTE: This product should not be used for dry, hot, scratchy, hoarse coughs. Use Cough Ease - Dry Cough instead. AMOUNT USED: 1/4–1/2 teaspoon (1–3 droppers full) every 30 to 60 minutes until crisis abates, then 2 to 3 times a day until symptoms go away. MORE ABOUT THE HERBS IN THIS FORMULA:
• Wild Cherry Bark (Prunus virginiana) is an astringing, cooling and drying expectorant for the respiratory tract that removes excess mucus and congestion in the respiratory system by initially causing a deep coughing reflex that is followed by a relaxing of the upper respiratory muscles. This herb soothes sore throats and is also mildly stimulating to the digestive system, helping it to work better to clear out congestion in the body. The wild cherry tree is native to North America and Canada. • Spikenard (Aralia racemosa) is a reflex expectorant, and helps to soothe inflamed tissues and move excess fluids from the respiratory tract. This herb is generally used for cold-like symptoms, chronic coughs and bronchial spasms. • Elecampane Root (Inula helenium) is a respiratory relaxant that helps reduce chronic respiratory symptoms and coughs. It loosens up stubborn phlegm and gently clears out cold-type symptoms. It has an antiseptic action and is mildly diuretic, helping to pull excess fluids from the body. It stimulates digestion while calming and soothing jumpy stomachs. This perennial herb originated in Europe and Asia, and was an important healing herb for the Greeks, Romans, and early Europeans. • Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) contains respiratory-specific antiseptic flavonoid components, is high in mineral ascorbates and vitamin C mineral electrolytes, and helps to reduce coughs, bronchial and sinus congestion, and fevers. It has a distinct anti-inflammatory action in the body. In the 17th century, elderberry was a favorite remedy for clearing phlegm, as an expectorant for coughs, and as a diuretic. • Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) works as an expectorant that cools inflammation, helps reduce cold symptoms, coughs and bronchial problems, soothes mucous membranes, irritated lungs and sore throats, helps mucus to clear from respiratory tissues, and is moistening to tissues. This herb is high in B vitamins. It has been used medicinally since at least 500 B.C. It originally comes from the Mediterranean and the Middle East and has been used for its tonic qualities in Europe and China for many centuries. • Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum cassia) has
antiseptic and astringing action and improves immunity, helping the body to
overcome phlegmatic coughs. It helps reduce gas and indigestion, and is good for
“cold” conditions. |
